A ransomware attack on Canadian logistics company Canpar Express’ internal system has left the organization with extensive downtime costs.

With their website offline for days, the company has been unable to schedule pickups or deliveries and track packages. Frustrations have mounted as many private and commercial customers were unable to use the company’s website services and experienced delays in their deliveries. Many disgruntled customers have taken to social media to voice their displeasure with the down services and lack of communication by Canpar itself.

While company officials have been quiet about the situation, a single webpage was posted on their site reading:

"Canpar Express was the target of a ransomware attack that impacted some of our systems," the message reads on its site. "We continue to meet most customer shipping needs, and we are not aware of any misuse of client information. Out of an abundance of caution, we want to make our clients aware of the incident, should you be experiencing any issues."

Further details regarding any stolen information, or other internal impacts of the attack are unknown. While the company continues to investigate and resolve the issue, it is advisable for any of the company’s customers that have been using their online services to vigilante and on the lookout for any spoofed emails. Continue to monitor your accounts, change passwords and stay tuned to see if any further action is necessary.
