Casino Fandango disclosed June 2024 breach of its computer network

Casino Fandango, a casino resort in Carson City, Nevada, notified affected individuals on September 23, 2024 that an unauthorized party had accessed its computer network earlier in the year. The company also filed a breach notice with the Montana Attorney General.

According to the filing, the intruder accessed and copied files from the network between June 8 and June 13, 2024. Casino Fandango detected the activity in June, secured its systems, notified federal law enforcement and engaged outside cybersecurity specialists to investigate what had been taken.

The public notice said some of the copied files contained confidential consumer information but did not itemise the categories; individual letters told each recipient which of their details were involved. Litigation filed afterwards described the exposed data as including names and Social Security numbers. Neither the regulator filing nor the reporting reviewed gave a total number of affected people.

A negligence suit, Tipton v. Casino Fandango LLC, was filed in Nevada on October 29, 2024, alleging the resort could have prevented the intrusion with reasonable security measures. The parties reached a settlement that received preliminary court approval on June 25, 2025, offering class members up to $2,000 in reimbursement for documented losses along with one year of three bureau credit monitoring.
