Perfection Fresh confirms breach after Sarcoma ransomware listing

Perfection Fresh, an Australian fresh produce grower and distributor, confirmed a cyber incident after being named on the leak site of the Sarcoma ransomware group on October 10, 2024. Sarcoma appeared with roughly 30 victims listed at once, and Perfection Fresh was one of several Australian companies posted within a 24-hour window.

The group claimed to hold 690 gigabytes of material from the company, described in its listing simply as files and SQL data, and published a sample as proof. Cyber Daily described the released material only as internal and confidential documents belonging to the company. No ransom demand was made public.

In a statement, Perfection Fresh said that following a cyber incident a third party had named the company online alongside a small sample of files. The company said it had obtained a court injunction restraining further dissemination of the data and warned staff, customers and suppliers to be alert for phishing attempts referencing the incident.

Perfection Fresh said it had notified the Australian Cyber Security Centre and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. Sarcoma listed three other Australian organizations around the same time: The Plastic Bag Company, Perth-based Road Distribution Services and Sydney firm Meshworks. As of the reporting date the company had not said how many individuals were affected.
