Security researchers uncovered a major data breach in the Plenty of Fish Mobile App. Information that users set to “Private",” such as First Names and Postal Codes, were found to be leaked on the dating company app’s API. Plenty of Fish has since issued a patch and the researchers that found the leak praised the company for being, “…quite responsive and diligent with regards to rolling out a fix…”
By exposing users to danger in both the digital world and real-world, Plenty of Fish is sure to receive reputational blow back from the unintentional data breach despite their best efforts to quickly resolve the issue.
